The Executive Governor of Zamfara State, His Excellency Dr. Dauda Lawal, paid a courtesy visit to the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Headquarters in Abuja as part of his administration’s efforts to foster stronger collaboration with key stakeholders in the education sector.
Governor Lawal extended his warm congratulations to the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. Aisha Garba, on her well-deserved appointment. He commended the Commission for its leadership and commitment to improving access and quality of basic education nationwide.
The Governor also shared some of the challenges his administration inherited and outlined bold steps being taken to address them. He expressed strong interest in partnering with UBEC and affirmed Zamfara State’s readiness to key into all intervention programs and collaboration opportunities facilitated by the Commission.
In his remarks, the Deputy Executive Secretary (Services), Mr Tunde Ajibulu mni, lauded the Governor’s dedication to revamping basic education in his state. He emphasized that UBEC is always ready to support any state government that demonstrates political will and clear commitment to educational development, noting that Zamfara is one of the leading states in improved basic education delivery.
The Executive Secretary, Aisha Garba, thanked the Governor for the visit and praised the remarkable strides recorded in Zamfara under his leadership. She pledged the Commission’s continued support to the state and expressed her intent to further explore strategic areas of cooperation that will benefit the education system in Zamfara.
The Executive Secretary highlighted several key achievements by the Zamfara State Government under Governor Lawal, including:
- The return of teachers who had previously been on strike
 - Launch of a campaign to bring out-of-school children back into classrooms
 - Restoration and rehabilitation of dilapidated schools
 - Distribution of teaching and learning materials to over 250 public schools
The visit concluded with a renewed commitment from both parties to continue working together in pursuit of inclusive and quality basic education for all.
