Mahmood Dantawasa
The Zamfara State Government has noted with utmost disappointment the reckless and misleading report alleging that our State borrowed the sum of N28 billion within the first half of 2025.
We state categorically that this claim is false, malicious, and a deliberate attempt to smear the image of Zamfara State and the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal.
For the avoidance of doubt, Zamfara State has not borrowed a single kobo- domestic or foreign – under this administration. Those peddling this fiction must provide concrete evidence or retract their lies.
It is unfortunate that some media platforms continue to publish sensitive financial claims without basic fact-checking. This is not journalism; it is mischief. We will not allow the name of Zamfara State to be dragged into baseless debt allegations simply to pad up a sensational headline.
Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration is running a disciplined and transparent financial system anchored on accountability, improved revenue generation, and prudent use of federal allocations. Our government has no intention of mortgaging the future of our people with reckless borrowing.
We strongly warn those spreading this falsehood to desist immediately. If they cannot substantiate their claims with facts, then Nigerians will see them for what they truly are – purveyors of fake news.
Zamfara State will not tolerate deliberate misinformation.
