50 Critically injured as Explosion Hits Talata Mafara Market in Zamfara State

No fewer than fifty traders and customers including children have sustained severe injuries following a gunpowder explosion at Talata Mafara weekly market in Zamfara state.

The explosion occurred at a popular section of the Market where locally fabricated guns are sold and serviced.

While some of the victims are currently receiving treatment at the Talata Mafara General Hospital, others who were critically injured have been referred to the Usmanu Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital Sokoto.

The Emir of Mafara Alhaji Bello Muhammad Barmo and the Talata Mafara Local Government Council Chairman, Yahaya Yari Abubakar were among the early callers at the General Hospital to sympathize with the victims most of whom are responding to treatment.

Meanwhile, the Talata Mafara Local Government Council has banned the sale and servicing of the locally fabricated guns in the market with immediate effect.
